Ok so I’m going to try to teach a bit about how to read those rhythm parts for non-experienced guitar players ‘cause I never knew how to play it until I took lessons.
So first off lets start with the basics.

4= There is 4 beats in each bar

2=There is 2 beats in each bar
6
4=There is 6 beats in each bar
This goes on and hopefully ya get the point.
So now lets get onto the notes
Quarter Note: A b flipped the other way around and the center is filled in. It is held for 1 beat.
Half Note: Same thing as a Quarter not except the center is not filled in and it is held for 2 beats.
Whole Note: Looks like a circle that’s not filled in. It is held for 4 beats. The only thing about a whole note is the bottom number of the staff

is the number of beats the whole note is held for.
Eight Note: Looks exactley like a Quarter Note except the top of it is curved slightly. This is held for ½ of a beat. To count eight notes on a 4/4 timing you would go 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. Eight Notes can be connected by ONLY one line. Ex: ___ (rough sketch but ya get the point)

Sixteenth Note: Sixteenth notes are usually always connected by each other so you never see one by themselves. Sixteenth notes are connected by ONLY two lines Ex: === (sorry for the rough sketches!)

Sixteenth notes are held for ¼ of a beat. So to count it in 4/4 timing you would go 1234, 1234, 1234, 1234. Sometimes in guitar tabs they would leave out one beat (lets take the second one out) so you would count it as
1_34, 1_34, 1_34, 1_34. Make sure that you still count it but don’t play it.
So now that we’ve had a explanation of the notes I’ll tell ya some more important stuff.
In guitar tabs you see how to play the rhythm under the lines.(a great place to check it out would be http://benharpertablatures.free.fr/ which gives detailed tabs on Ben Harper who is an amazing artist by the way!)
It would be an excellent idea to get a Metronome because they’re really helpful to play guitar.
Usually you have to make the rhythm parts on your own after you’ve printed guitar tabs. I just buy a book full of guitar sheet music and re-write songs on there.
It’d also be a great idea to print out more than only one tab of the same song because people always have other ideas for the songs so you can just play which one sounds better.
